This nozzle casting was made in Ferralium® 255 because it must resist both corrosion and erosion at once. The casting weighs about 15 lb.
The erosive effect of a liquid passing at high velocity through a small aperture is considerably accelerated when the liquid is itself highly corrosive. Ferralium® 255 was chosen for its well-proven resistance to both the corrosive and erosive conditions in which this nozzle operates.
