Alloy 2205 and the super duplex grades - Ferralium® 255, Alloy 32750 and Alloy 32760 - give high strength with resistance to chloride pitting and stress-corrosion cracking, supplied as plate and heavy bar.
Which alloy for acid-service heat exchangers?
Alloy 825 for reducing and oxidising acids with chloride stress-corrosion resistance, and Alloy 625 for the most aggressive streams.
Which alloy for seawater-cooled exchangers?
Hiduron® 130 for anti-fouling and crevice resistance where the unit sees intermittent flow.
Where does Alloy 316L fit?
Alloy 316L covers milder cooling-water and process duty where full duplex or nickel is not required.

Ferralium® 255 is the Langley Alloys trade name for the super duplex stainless steel UNS S32550. Alloy 32760 is equivalent to UNS S32760, also known as Zeron 100®, a trademark of Rolled Alloys. Alloy 32750 is equivalent to UNS S32750, also known as SAF 2507®, a trademark of Alleima. Alloy 2205 is the 22 percent chromium duplex grade UNS S31803/S32205. Alloy 625 and Alloy 825 are equivalent to UNS N06625 and N08825, sold elsewhere as Inconel® 625 and Incoloy® 825, trademarks of Special Metals. Alloy 316L is the low-carbon molybdenum-bearing austenitic grade UNS S31603. Hiduron® 130 meets DIN 2.1504 and DTD 900/4805 (also designated UNS C72400).
