A cast Ferralium® 255 propeller came through four years of continuous immersion in sea water completely free from general attack or pitting.
Applications for Ferralium® 255 super duplex stainless steel in sea water have confirmed the early promise of laboratory tests, and this propeller is perhaps the most notable example.
The freedom from pitting is particularly significant, since the propeller spent a large part of its time immersed under static conditions. The dark marks in the photograph are adherent growths; where many of these have been removed, a bright clean surface is exposed underneath.
