These food-mixer beaters are cast in Ferralium® 255, which is sterile, chemically inert in contact with food and highly wear resistant.
Food mixing machinery usually needs some form of beater or stirrer, and the material used must be sterile and resistant to chemical reaction when in contact with edible matter.
From mild steel to Ferralium® 255
These mixers were previously fabricated in mild steel, which had to be coated to resist corrosion. The coating life was comparatively short and, combined with the low wear resistance of mild steel, replacement was frequent.
Complete castings in Ferralium® 255 save the time and cost of fabrication, have a considerably longer life, and are chemically inert in contact with food.
