Langley supplied a forged shaft, 5" diameter and 14 feet long, in Ferralium® 255 for a phosphoric acid plant being erected overseas. Machined and fitted with a paddle, the shaft is used in a mixer making 'wet process' acid.
Ferralium® 255 (UNS S32550, Alloy 255, DIN 1.4507, ASTM F61) is a ferritic-austenitic super duplex stainless steel that combines high strength, hardness and ductility with outstanding corrosion resistance. It is widely used in handling acids such as sulphuric, phosphoric, nitric, acetic and formic, and in handling salt solutions.
