CS17 - Ferralium 255 - Effluent Treatment

Ferralium 255

Ferralium® 255 was used in a developmental sludge-destruction system produced by Verlech Treatment Systems in Longmont, Colorado. The 'Vertech' system consists of a series of concentric pipes reaching approximately 5,000 feet below ground level. The sludge is reacted with oxygen at elevated temperatures and pressures to reduce the organic solid content, leaving only a small ash residue.

Cameron Iron Works of Houston specially designed and built the wellhead and tubing suspension systems for this application from Ferralium® 255. The high strength of duplex stainless steel allowed efficient design, while its corrosion resistance was needed to handle influent containing up to 30 percent carbon dioxide. The lower part of the wellhead system, around 24" in diameter, was manufactured from Ferralium® 255.
