Shaft and agitator blades made from Ferralium® 255 mix sulphuric acid and phosphate rock in the production of phosphoric acid - an extremely corrosive and abrasive duty that has become a default application for this super duplex stainless steel.
Shafts can use solid bar, but larger diameters are more typically fabricated from plate to provide enough stiffness over longer lengths. The blades are usually bolted onto welded fixtures, allowing easy replacement during routine maintenance and keeping downtime short.
