Ultrasonic testing finds internal flaws, inclusions and porosity inside bar and billet without cutting the material.
High-frequency sound is passed through the section; anything that interrupts it reflects the signal and reveals its position and size. We carry it out in-house at our Midlands plant, with operators qualified to ASNT Level II, to customer standards including BAe Systems, US Navy and BNFL. Running it ourselves keeps lead times short and avoids third-party call-out costs, and combined with dye penetrant inspection for surface defects it gives full confidence in a bar before it ships.
