Bushings and bearings fail through wear, galling and corrosion, often all three at once in seawater or process service.
We supply the copper alloy and stainless bar that these wear components are machined from, from stock in the UK and USA.
Which alloy for bearing and bushing service?
Hidurel® 5 - a precipitation-hardening copper-nickel-silicon alloy with high strength, good anti-friction and bearing properties and high conductivity.
Which alloy where galling against a mating part is the problem?
Fermonic® 60 (Nitronic® 60) - specified because it runs against stainless steel without seizing.
Which alloy for seawater bushings and wear rings?
Hiduron® 130 for seawater corrosion and anti-fouling, with Ferralium® 255 super duplex where higher strength is needed.
Which material for sleeves and spacers?
Alloy 316L hollow bar, which removes the boring operation and saves machining time and material.
Also known as
Hidurel® 5 is a precipitation-hardening copper-nickel-silicon alloy (UNS C64700, DIN 2.0855). Hiduron® 130 meets DIN 2.1504 and DTD 900/4805 (also designated UNS C72400). Fermonic® 60 is our designation for UNS S21800, known elsewhere as Nitronic 60, a trademark of Cleveland-Cliffs (formerly AK Steel). Alloy 316L is the low-carbon molybdenum-bearing austenitic grade UNS S31603. Ferralium® 255 is the Langley Alloys trade name for the super duplex stainless steel UNS S32550.
Typical bushing and bearing work
Bushings, bearing sleeves, wear rings, glands, thrust washers, spacers.
