This dip-tube casting in Ferralium® 255 (UNS S32550, Alloy 255, DIN 1.4507, ASTM F61) was chosen for its proven resistance to corrosion in hot phosphoric acid concentrations.
In one method of producing acid concentrates, known as submerged combustion, a dip tube carries the necessary heat well below the surface of the acid. This casting raises the concentration of 30% P2O5 up to about 50%.
