Chlorine dioxide is essential for bleaching paper pulp, but it corrodes the plant it contacts. After successful trials, a Swedish paper-plant manufacturer adopted Ferralium® 255 for a rotor casting, having found it far superior to the stainless steels previously used.
Chlorine dioxide is a necessary bleaching agent in paper pulp manufacture, but its corrosive action shortens the service life of the plant it contacts.
To extend the intervals between plant replacements, a Swedish manufacturer of paper-processing plant ran successful trials with Ferralium® 255 lasting several months. Extensive tests on samples of cast bar proved the material far superior to the stainless steels previously used.
As a result, Langley supplied a rotor casting in Ferralium® 255 for a chlorine dioxide tower in a paper bleaching plant in Japan.
