Dorr Oliver engineers selected Ferralium® 255 for a waste-incinerator venturi at Norwalk, Connecticut, because of its resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion and chloride stress corrosion cracking in brackish water.
In the process, tidal-basin water containing 2600 ppm of chlorides is mixed with the effluent from the municipal sewage incinerator in the venturi (directly behind the operator in the associated image).
