Ferralium® 255 agitator blades benefit from exceptional erosion-corrosion resistance, and in this application gave more than twice the operational lifetime of the Alloy 316 originals.
MST Corp (USA) provide manufacturing and services for critical machinery and parts used in pulp and paper, paper recycling and related continuous process industries. This typically involves replacing or redesigning large capital parts that are not available ex-stock, requiring a flexible approach to remanufacture and material selection.
Agitator blades are a common application for Ferralium® 255. The image shows the original OEM parts on the left, supplied in Alloy 316 stainless steel - normally seen as a reasonably high-performance choice. In this case the replacement frequency was much shorter than anticipated, so MST specified Ferralium® 255 for the replacements, which had given more than twice the operational lifetime at the time of writing.
Although raw material costs are higher, the extended operating cycles and availability far outweigh the difference. Ferralium® 255 provides the lowest total cost of ownership for many applications through its combination of performance, cost and ready availability.
