Alloy 925 is a nickel-based alloy - nickel is its largest constituent at 38-46% - that also contains iron, chromium and molybdenum in smaller proportions. It is a precipitation-strengthened grade with good corrosion resistance across a wide temperature range.

Alloy 925 was developed by Special Metals Incorporated and promoted under their Incoloy 925 trademark. More than ten grades sit within the Incoloy family; the two most widely used are Incoloy 825 and Incoloy 925.

The mechanical properties of Incoloy 925 come from precipitation-strengthening. Small additions of titanium, aluminium and niobium form fine precipitates throughout the metal during a secondary heat treatment; these "pin" the microstructure under load, increasing strength and toughness.

As a nickel-based grade, Alloy 925 has good corrosion resistance and resists oxidation at elevated temperatures. It retains most of its room-temperature strength and toughness at both very low and high temperatures. It is also non-magnetic, which matters for some applications such as downhole measurement equipment in oil and gas.

Alloy 925 is less readily available in the smallest diameters, so our stock typically starts at 4"-10" (101.6-254mm) diameter.
