2.4375 is the Werkstoff (material) number for a nickel-based alloy best known as Monel® K-500. The Werkstoff designation system was developed by the German standards body DIN.
Monel K-500 is an age-hardened version of the original Monel 400 alloy, developed by Special Metals Corporation. It is a nickel-based alloy with a significant copper addition, giving it excellent resistance to marine and chemical corrosion. Additions of aluminium and titanium (3-4% in total) form microscopic precipitates that greatly increase strength, and these can be controlled through heat treatment. The result is a large uplift in mechanical properties - yield strength up to 4x greater and tensile strength up to 2x greater than Monel 400.
This added strength means Alloy K-500 can be used in more demanding components, including marine shafts, valve stems, fasteners, mixer and agitator shafts, doctor blades, drill collars and heat exchanger components.
We supply Alloy K-500 (2.4375, UNS N05500, Monel K-500) as solid bar between 5/8" (15.875mm) and 10" (254mm) diameter, certified to NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156-3, ASTM B865 and BS 3076-89 NA18.
