As understanding of super duplex stainless steels has grown, so has our ability to fine-tune the manufacture of Ferralium® 255. Tighter control of composition, fewer impurities and inclusions, and improved heat treatment and quenching have all helped optimise mechanical properties and corrosion performance.
Ferralium® (UNS S32550, 1.4507, F61) is the only super duplex guaranteed to achieve 85ksi yield strength, an advantage for many applications. It also meets a weight loss of less than 0.8g/m2 in the ASTM G48A corrosion test at 50degC, compared with less than 4.0g/m2 for other super duplex grades.
