CS62 - Huduron 191 - Ring Forging

A threaded steel component used in seawater tended to seize when unscrewed against a mating steel part. Switching to Hiduron® 191 ring forgings solved the problem, combining outstanding seawater corrosion resistance with strength equivalent to steel.

In an application involving contact with seawater, a threaded component made in steel - which had to be unscrewed periodically - tended to seize when mated with steel.

Using Hiduron® 191 ring forgings for the threaded component solved the problem. The forgings weigh 860lbs each and are machined to a 31" outside diameter, with a 3.75" wall thickness and a 6" thickness.

Hiduron® 191 (NES 835, DEF STAN 02-835) is a cupronickel widely used for marine applications for its outstanding corrosion resistance to seawater and its high mechanical properties, which give it strength equivalent to steel.
