Olets

Branch connection fittings that weld directly to the main pipe run, sized to the pipe OD with no reinforcement pad required.

What an olet is

An olet is a self-reinforcing branch fitting that takes a branch off the main pipe run without a separate reinforcing pad. It is sized to the OD of the main run and has an integral weld preparation, so the fitting itself provides the reinforcement required by ASME B31.3. The name is a trademark of Bonney Forge; the generic term is integrally reinforced branch outlet fitting.

Types

  • Weldolet - standard butt-weld branch; the most common type.
  • Sockolet - socket weld connection for smaller branch pipe.
  • Threadolet - threaded connection for instrumentation tappings.
  • Elbolet - branches off an elbow rather than straight pipe.
  • Coupolet - creates a coupling end on the branch.
  • Sweepolet - swept (radius) entry that reduces turbulence and fatigue stress; preferred on high-cycle or erosive service.
  • Latrolet - takes a branch at 45° to the main run axis.
  • Nipolet - an olet with an extended nipple, used where a valve must be close-coupled to the main run.
