Heat exchangers, condensers and seawater-cooled systems need materials that resist corrosion and erosion in flowing water under pressure and temperature. Langley supplies high-strength copper-nickel-aluminium alloys and super duplex stainless for the job.

Copper-nickel-aluminium for seawater cooling

Hiduron^® 130 resists corrosion and erosion in flowing seawater and marine atmospheres while offering high strength, suiting it to pump and valve components, water boxes and fittings in seawater cooling circuits.

Super duplex for tube plates and high-chloride service

Where higher strength and greater resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion are needed, Ferralium^® 255 and Alloy 32760 super duplex are well suited to tube plates, tube sheets and cooling components handling aggressive, high-chloride water.

Complete components

Bar and hollow bar combined with in-house machining, ultrasonic testing and inspection, so cooling-system components arrive finished and fully certified.

Seawater Velocity Limits

Check a seawater flow velocity against the maximum design velocity for copper and copper-nickel alloys, to avoid impingement (erosion-corrosion) attack. Enter a velocity directly, or work it out from flow rate and pipe bore. Design guidance from CDA / Nickel Institute and BSMA 18.

Design guidance, not a guarantee. Maximum velocities avoid impingement/erosion-corrosion in clean seawater. Limits reduce at small bores (BSMA 18 pipe values apply above ~100 mm bore, reduced below). Local turbulence at bends and fittings, partial blockage, entrained air or sand, and higher temperature all lower the safe velocity. Confirm against the project specification and the product's own data.
