Langley Alloys developed Ferralium® 255, the first commercial super duplex stainless steel, patented in 1968. Close to sixty years on it remains a reference grade for the most aggressive subsea, chemical and marine service. Being the originator means we understand these alloys at the level of their microstructure, not just their datasheet.

Metallurgy and research
Our team includes qualified metallurgists with decades in the industry, and we publish original research, dozens of technical papers on super duplex corrosion, the role of copper and tungsten, and hydrogen embrittlement in high-strength copper alloys. That depth lets us advise on the unusual cases, not just the catalogue ones.
Verification and testing
Expertise means little without proof. Every bar is ultrasonically tested and visually inspected, with ASTM G48 pitting tests, ferrite-content certification, tensile, Charpy impact and micrographic examination available in-house, and EN 10204 3.2 third-party witness certification where required.

With over 2,000 specifications on file and tools for PREN, pitting resistance and NACE MR0175 screening, we help you choose the right grade and confirm international equivalents before you commit.
