1.4460 (DIN 1.4460) is a super duplex stainless steel based on 25% chromium, also specified as UNS S32900, AISI 329 and EN X3CrNiMoN27-5-2.
Duplex stainless steels are a family of grades with a mixed microstructure of austenite and ferrite phases, combining good corrosion resistance with high strength across a wide range of applications. Super duplex grades carry a higher content of alloying elements such as chromium, nickel and molybdenum and are based on 25% chromium, giving even greater corrosion resistance and strength for more demanding environments.
1.4460 does not quite match the strength or corrosion resistance of other super duplex grades such as 1.4410, 1.4501 and 1.4507. Its yield strength is typically >450MPa, compared with 550MPa (1.4410, 1.4501) and 586MPa (1.4507). Its PREN (Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number) is around 34, whereas other super duplex grades exceed 40.
Our duplex and super duplex range
We carry one of the most complete ranges of duplex and super duplex stainless steels, in up to 40 different sizes and in quantities sufficient for the largest projects.
1.4507 (Ferralium® 255, S32550, ASTM A182 F61) is available only from Langley Alloys, as round bar from 1/2"-14" (12.7-355.6mm), plate up to 3" (76.2mm), pipe, flanges and fittings.
We also stock 1.4410 (S32750, ASTM A182 F53) and 1.4501 (S32760, ASTM A182 F55) as round bar from 5/8"-20" diameter (15.87-508mm) and plate up to 3" (76.2mm) thickness, along with pipe in scheduled sizes, flanges and fittings.
