SAF32760 is Alleima's trade name for the super duplex stainless steel UNS S32760. SAF stands for Alleima Austenitic Ferritic, reflecting the balanced austenite-ferrite microstructure that gives super duplex grades their combination of high strength, excellent corrosion resistance and good impact properties.
Compared with S32750, S32760 contains deliberate additions of both copper and tungsten. Tungsten is sometimes included in the formula that calculates the Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number (PREN), which suggests it has a positive effect on resistance to pitting corrosion.
The history of SAF32760
SAF32760 (UNS S32760, DIN 1.4501, ASTM F55) was originally developed as Zeron 100® by the UK company Mather & Platt in the 1970s. Based in Manchester, Mather & Platt manufactured large-scale centrifugal pumps, an application where aggressive solutions demand significant corrosion resistance, strength and wear resistance.
The team optimised the alloy for ease of casting and long-term performance in more demanding pump bodies. The pump division was later acquired by Weir Pumps, and the Manchester site and foundry closed. The Zeron 100 trademark is now held by Rolled Alloys Inc.
We are a preferred distribution partner of Alleima and stock Alloy S32760 (SAF32760, UNS S32760) as bar up to 16" (406.4mm) diameter and plate up to 3" (76.2mm) thickness, with a variety of pipes and fittings available ex-stock from the UK and USA.
