Darren Greer
Darren has spent his entire working life in engineering and metals, including over 18 years with Langley Alloys and a decade before that at Meighs Castings. He now leads the Majors section, supporting oil and gas OEMs and independent down-hole tool companies across the USA, UAE, Singapore and Saudi Arabia.
His focus is raw material, bored bar and competitively priced turnkey machined parts, with recent high-volume work in nickel alloys 825 and 925, 316 and 25Cr super duplex.
He came into metals through a four-year engineering apprenticeship at APV Chemical Machinery, then moved into metal sales at Meighs Castings, where he project-managed machined nickel-aluminium-bronze castings for the defence sector, focused on submarines. He holds an HNC in Engineering and a Foundation Degree in Project Management.
Colleagues have called him a broad-based specialist: with decades in the industry, customers come to him for all sorts, from sourcing and pricing to questions on material specifications and quality requirements. Away from work, he played 8-ball pool at county level and later turned professional on the UK 9-ball tour.
Rodney Rice C.Eng
Rodney is a qualified metallurgist and Chartered Engineer with almost 35 years in the metals industry, the last 10 with Langley Alloys. As Sales Director he draws on a career spanning technical support, product development, R&D and marketing across the UK, the USA and beyond.
He works most closely with super duplex stainless steels, alongside a wider range of high-performance stainless steels and nickel alloys, helping customers find the practical, cost-effective route to their requirements.
His career has spanned carbon steel flat products, organically coated steels and, more recently, high-performance stainless steels and nickel alloys, with extensive travel supporting customers and business development around the world.
Naturally curious, he believes the best way to answer a customer's question is to understand it fully, and he supports the sales team wherever his experience adds value, particularly on unusual applications and technical questions. He enjoys the variety of the role, moving between supplier relationships, daily operations, major projects and exhibitions. Away from work, he starts most weekdays in the gym, and at weekends you might find him walking on Moel Famau, following Coventry City, or spending time with family.
