Glandless pumps used for boiler feed water circulation in many power stations have an integral squirrel cage electric motor which operates whilst totally submerged in water. The laminations in the stator are held in position by stator end plates. The stator end plate shown here is cast in Hiduron 130 (DIN 2.1504, DTD900/4805, Hidurax Special) bronze because the material combines high strength, good corrosion resistance, and low magnetic permeability.
