What is S32520?

S32520 is the Unified Numbering System (UNS) designation for a specific kind of super duplex stainless steel.

What is the Unified Number System UNS System?

The UNS system was created by a number of trade groups working together in the 1970’s. It was designed to reduce confusion from the same alloy being called different things or vice-versa. Each metal is indicated by a letter followed by five numbers, where the letter indicates the family of metals. For example, in the case of S32520, S for stainless steels.

What is the Chemical Makeup of S32520?

UNS S32520 is included within the following ASTM standards: A182 (forged fittings), A240 (plate), A789 (tubing) and A790 (pipe) and is designated as grade F59. It is not widely stocked, and the closest grade to it is Ferralium 255 (UNS32550, DIN 1.4507, F61). A comparison of the standard captions of F59 (S32520) and F61 (S32550) are given below:

The chemical composition of S32520 can be met by that of Ferralium 255. Mechanical properties will vary by product form.

Langley Alloys carries an extensive stock of  Ferralium 255, with bar up to 16″ (406.4mm) diameter, plate up to 3″ (76.2mm) thickness, and a variety of pipes and fittings available ex-stock from our warehouses in the UK and USA.
