What is 1.4507 material equivalent to?

1.4507 is the DIN reference to a 25% chromium content super duplex stainless steel better known as Ferralium 255.

The very first commercially produced super duplex stainless steel was Ferralium 255 which was developed by Langley Alloys. Launched in 1969, it has now provided more than 50 years of successful service in a wide range of demanding applications. The general composition of Ferralium 255 has been standardised as DIN 1.4507, UNS S32550 and ASTM A182 F61.

Key differences between Ferralium 255 and other super duplex stainless steels are the fact that it contains up to 2% copper to support increased resistance to sulphuric acid. Also, it is still the only super duplex stainless steel to achieve a minimum yield strength of 85ksi (586N/mm2) as solid bars, compared with a minimum of just 80ksi (550N/mm2) for other grades.

Ferralium 255 (S32550) is available only from Langley Alloys, as round bar from ½”-14” (12.7-355.6mm), plate up to 3” (76.2mm), pipe, flanges and fittings.

Langley Alloys carries an extensive range of the other most popular duplex stainless steels and super duplex stainless steels. Langley Alloys stocks S31803 (DIN 1.4462, ASTM A182 F51) from 5/8” (15.87mm) up to 450mm diameter solid bars, plus plate up to 3” (76.2mm) thick, pipes in scheduled sizes, hollow bars, flanges and fittings.

Langley Alloys stocks S32760 (DIN 1.4501, ASTM A182 F55) and S32750 (DIN 1.4410, ASTM A182 F53) solid bars in sizes from 5/8” to 20” (15.87-508mm) diameter, plate up to 3” (76.2mm) thick, plus pipes in scheduled sizes, fittings and flanges.
