CS86 – Ferralium 255 – 18″ Gate Valve

Description:

Sulphuric acid is a basic raw material of the chemical industry, playing a part in an extensive variety of processes. It follows that resistance to corrosion by the varying acid concentrations and process temperature is a widespread need.

Over the past year or so, FERRALIUM 255 has consistently proved to be an extremely good material for service both in the production of sulphuric acid itself and in the numerous and varied chemical processes in which it is used, because of its exceptionally good corrosion resistance over a wide range of conditions.

The valve shown in the photograph is an 18” gate valve in FERRALIUM 255 (UNS S32550, Alloy 255, DIN 1.4507, ASTM F61), and one of a very large number of FERRALIUM 255 valves being supplied to a new plant overseas.

The use of Langley valves in FERRALIUM 255 for sulphuric acid plants is now well established, and they are being increasing specified both for new plants and as replacements of existing valves in older installations.
