CS17 – Ferralium 255 – Effluent Treatment

Description:

Ferralium 255

From our case study archives: Ferralium® 255 was utilised in a developmental sludge destruction system produced by Verlech Treatment Systems in Longmont, Colorado. The ‘Vertech’ system consists of a series of concentric pipes reaching a depth of approximately 5,000 feet below ground level. The sludge is reacted with oxygen in this system at elevated temperatures and pressures to effectively reduce the organic solid content, leaving only a small ash residue.

Wellhead and tubing suspension systems were specially designed for this application by Cameron lron Works, Houston and were built with Ferralium® 255. The high strength of duplex stainless steel was needed for efficient design while the corrosion resistance was necessary to handle the influent which contains up to 30 percent carbon dioxide. The lower part of this wellhead system, around 24” in diameter, was manufactured from Ferralium® 255.
