In food mixing machinery some form of beater or stirrer is usually necessary and is it essential that the material used is sterile and resistant to chemical reaction when in contact with edible matter.
These food mixers were cast in FERRALIUM 255. Previously they were fabricated in mild steel which required to be coated to resist corrosion. The life of the coating was comparatively short and coupled with the low wear resistance of mild steel, replacement was frequent. Complete castings in FERRALIUM 255 save time and cost of fabrication, have considerably longer life, and are chemically inert in contact with food.
