This centrifuge casting in FERRALIUM 255 super duplex stainless steel is 25” in diameter, 19” long, and weighs about 200lb. In this instance, FERRALIUM 255 (UNS S32550, Alloy 255, DIN 1.4507, ASTM F61) was selected for its superior resistance to stress corrosion cracking in the presence of chlorides as compared with the standard 18/10/3Mo stainless sheets of steel such as ‘20’ alloy.
