A Ferralium® 255 propeller fitted to a fast patrol boat showed no sign of crevice or general corrosion after more than four years in the sea, mostly under estuarine conditions in Langston Harbour, UK, where the boat itself developed heavy marine growth.
Further Ferralium® 255 propellers have been in service on other fast patrol boats; on inspection they still had bright finishes with no evidence of crevice corrosion or pitting. The excellent corrosion resistance of Ferralium® 255 is particularly relevant where the seawater may also be polluted.
