From our case study archives: Strainer plates are used to filter wood fibres from cooking liquor after the digestion process in paper-making. It has been successfully demonstrated that Ferralium® 255 plates outlast Alloy 316 stainless steel plates in this application, through a combination of both superior corrosion and erosion resistance. The greater strength of this super duplex alloy also means that it can be designed with more holes, thereby speeding up the filtration process.
