2507

What is 2507?

2507 is a super duplex stainless steel designed for use in highly corrosive environments. Comparable to Alloy 32750, 2507 combines the key advantages of both austenitic and ferritic stainless steels, offering excellent corrosion resistance along with high mechanical strength.

With elevated levels of chromium, molybdenum, and nitrogen, 2507 stainless steel delivers a Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number (PREN) greater than 41, ensuring superior resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion across a wide range of aggressive media. It also maintains a Critical Pitting Temperature (CPT) above 122°F (50°C), outperforming standard duplex and austenitic grades.

2507 performs well in seawater, chloride-bearing environments, and aggressive chemical media making it ideal for a number of applications.

Supplied in the annealed condition, 2507 achieves a yield strength of 80 ksi (550 MPa), which is significantly higher than most austenitic and duplex grades. While it can’t be hardened by heat treatment, it can be further strengthened through cold working.

Other key performance benefits of 2507 include:

  • Low coefficient of thermal expansion

  • Higher thermal conductivity than austenitic stainless steels

  • Excellent performance up to 572°F (300°C)

2507 is also approved under ASME for pressure vessel applications and listed in NACE MR0175 for sour service, making it suitable for use in offshore, chemical processing, marine, and oil & gas environments.
