Kasto Saws - Langley Alloys

Continuing investment in our processing capability has seen another Kasto win A4.6 added to our fleet of saws.

This is the fourth CNC-controlled Kasto added to the business in the last 2 years, and the fifth new saw overall, as we try to improve our service offering. Rather than adding additional saws, but with relatively slow cutting times, we made the conscious decision to switch-out our previous saws for those that could cut faster and more accurately, utilise carbide blade technology, handle our extended range of super duplex stainless steel and nickel alloys, plus operate ‘lights-out’ to increase the number of hours available for cutting.

The Kasto win range offers fully-automated operation with an incremental feed of the long bar for cutting, allowing us to process large numbers of cut billets effectively. A recent order processed through one of our other Kasto saws produced 730 cuts of super duplex stainless steel S32750 / F53 over the course of consecutive evenings. This ‘lights-out’ cutting extends our productive time significantly, allowing us to shorten delivery lead times for cut pieces.

The combination of a more robust saw frame, carbide blades and responsive control of cutting parameters means that this saw is compatible with our nickel alloy portfolio, which now includes stocks of Alloy 925 (UNS N09925), Alloy 825 (UNS N08825, 2.4858) and Alloy 625 (UNS N06625), as well as Alloy 725, Alloy 718 and Alloy K500.
