What is the difference between Alloy 625 and Alloy 725?

Alloy 625 (Inconel 625, UNS N06625, 2.4856) and Alloy 725 (Inconel 725, UNS N07725) are nearly identical in composition, and therefore provide very similar corrosion resistance and physical properties. However, Alloy 725 provides significantly higher levels of strength as it benefits from precipitation strengthening. Small additions are made to its composition, which allow the formation of microscopic precipitates when the alloy is subjected to an extended heat treatment process. These fine precipitates increase the yield strength by 2x.
